During a wake, mourners fleed as a dead woman was shot by a stray bullet while lying in her casked, Wednesday. According to police, Clenilda da Silva, 49, a babysitter, had died the previous day of a heart attack, and was hit by a bullet fired in a shootout between a drug gang and police in an area adjacent to the cemetery.

Police in Delray Beach, Florida say a woman trying to outrun officers in a stolen SUV crashed into a row of honey bee hives, according to NBC 6. The driver was only slightly injured in the crash, but she was stung 16 times when she got out of the vehicle.

Cynthia Papageorge alleges in her lawsuit, reported by AP, that in 1999, a vice president for Mothers Work Incorporated, a maternity clothing company, questioned whether she was capable of working while pregnant. She says days later, the executive told her supervisor to fire her, but the supervisor refused, and Papageorge was fired while on maternity leave.

A mother was charged with two counts of murder in the beating deaths of her two sons. Police say Magdalena Lopez, 30, beat the boys with a 10-pound dumbbell because she believed they would be better off in heaven. Lopez was arrested Tuesday night after police responded to her 911 call and found 9-year-old Antonio Lopez and 2-year-old Erik Lopez dead in separate rooms of their home.

A woman branded with letters from the Consolidated Edison logo last year files a lawsuit Thursday against the utility company. Elizabeth C. Wallenburg, 27, fell off her skateboard and onto a searing hot manhole cover in Manhattan, branding her with the company's logo. She was burned just above her buttocks and on her left arm, when she fell onto the manhole cover located over a steam pipe in the East Village on Aug. 11, 2004.
