A Tokyo man was arrested by authorities after seeking medical treatment for a snake bite from one of the 51 venomous snakes he was illegally keeping in his apartment. Nobukazu Kashiwagi, a 41-year-old port worker, was bitten on his finger by an eastern green mamba as he tried to feed it.

A 22-year-old woman has given birth to a baby boy with two heads in southwestern Bangladesh who has been placed under police protection because of the curiosity his birth has caused among locals. Baby Kiron was born by caesarean section on Monday at a clinic in Keshobpur, 85 miles from the capital, Dhaka, and weighed 12 lbs 1 oz. Doctors believe that he was born from one embryo but there was a developmental anomaly that caused the infant to develop two heads.

As more Canadians shift to public transport or alternative methods of traveling caused by high fuel cost, transportation-related policies have taken center stage in the city halls of major cities. At Ottawa, the city's Transit Committee rejected a proposal to allow pets on public buses during a six-month pilot test period. The proposal came from Capital Coun. Clive Doucet. After two hours of debate his proposal was thumbed down.

A 17-year-old suspected robber learned some manners and to respect the elderly when his 85-year-old victim forced him, at gunpoint, to call the police and admit his wrongdoings. Leda Smith from Springhill Township, about 45 miles south of Pittsburgh, courageously walked past a 17-year-old burglar who forced his way inside her house Sunday afternoon. Smith entered her bedroom and grabbed a . 22 caliber gun she kept under her bed.

An Egyptian woman has given birth to septuplets. The babies, four girls and three boys, were born Aug. 16 via Caesarean section six weeks before her due date. The mother, Ghazala Ibrahim Omar, 27, already had three daughters, but was eager for a son. However, the mother says that she might need financial support to help raise them as her husband, who is a farmer, earns $4 a day, which may not be enough to support her newly-expanded family.
