An 88-year-old man shot dead his 87-year-old wife before shooting himself inside a patient room at the Community Medical Center in Toms River, New Jersey in an apparent mercy killing-suicide on Friday. The shooter did not die but was seriously wounded and taken to the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, according to police.

A jaded husband took revenge on his wife and her lover when she told him she was leaving to be with the other man. Robert Avery McClain, 34, a Los Angeles Deputy, was charged with aggravated mayhem, torture and sodomy after holding the couple at knifepoint in the leasing office where the wife, whose name has not been released, worked.

An Austrian man allegedly killed his in-laws when he set their home on fire with a flame-thrower. He then attempted suicide by stabbing himself in the stomach. Austrian police told reporters that the 48-year-old man poured gasoline in a room in the 84-year-old couple's home before lighting a propane gas bottle and throwing it into the gasoline. The woman was a diabetic amputee and was burned alive. Her husband managed to escape, but his body was found lying on a bench near the couple's home.

A Chicago woman bid $1. 75 for an abandoned house auctioned on eBay and won. Joanne Smith, 30, bested seven other bidders of the Saginaw, Michigan house auctioned off by its anonymous owner, who bought it for an undisclosed amount. The bidding started at five cents and the second highest bid was $1. 50.

A woman from Lusby, Maryland has been arrested after police discovered in her home basement a freezer containing the bodies of two girls. Renee Bowman, 43, is under detention without bail after admitting to police who came to her home Saturday that the bodies in the freezer belonged to her adopted children. The bodies had been frozen since seven months ago, when Bowman relocated from Rockville.
