An entire family managed to escape the flames engulfing their Allendale home, thanks to the screaming of the family cat. Dianne Busscher was woken up at 4:45 a. m. by the cries of the black-and-white cat, Oreo, coming from the garage. Upon investigating, Busscher saw the smoke and flames, prompting her to grab the cat, rush back inside and wake up Warren, her husband, and their five children.

Fishermen in the Philippines on Sunday threatened to launch a "fish strike" if the government of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo failed to stop the oil companies from raising and overpricing the prices of petroleum products in the country. "If fish strikes across the country are necessary to compel the Macapagal-Arroyo government and the oil mafia composed Petron, Shell and Caltex to stop, rollback and put an end to corporate practices of price manipulation and overpricing, then we will call our colleagues to go on a nationwide fish holiday," the fisherfolk alliance Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas said in a press statement.

The children of late humorist Herb Shriner announced their plan to send his old harmonicas to the U. S. troops in Iraq. Wil and Kin, Shriner's 53-year old twin sons, said that they found the harmonicas, all 400 vintage ones, in their father's warehouse located near the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Sixty-three-year-old French cook Christian Falco grilled a 1,213 pound camel for 15 hours at a seaside Moroccan town south of Rabat, to earn a spot in the Guinness Book for the world's largest barbecue. Falco said he did the feat to revive a tradition centuries ago when Moroccan kings offered a roast camel for the people.

Giant bra maker Triumph International has unveiled a 'chopsticks bra' in Japan hoping to cutting down on disposable chopstick. "Its small step, but because many Japanese chopsticks are disposable, big chunks of forests are being cut down," Triumph spokesperson Hiromi Shinta said. "So we thought we could help promote the use of 'My Chopsticks' and help cut down on disposable chopsticks. "
