In the new pilot CBS reality show called "The Singing Office," workplace karaoke stars will have to the chance vie for a cash prize and perform for a national audience. The concept is based on a successful Dutch show.

"Singing Office" will drop in unannounced to staffers at two companies and hold impromptu singing auditions.

The top singers from each company will be brought and trained in Hollywood to do a choreographed two-minute song-and-dance number.

CBS will start filming in August and if pushed to be a series, will hold a grand finale competition to be voted for by a TV audience.

"Everybody knows people at their office who stand up at the Christmas party and sing karaoke," the show's producer, Laurie Girion, told Reuters. "This is a show for these people. We're not looking for the next pop star, we are celebrating the real people who have picked a hairbrush and have sung in front of a mirror."

Girion added it should be seen more "as a comedy show with music at its core, not than just another music competition show."
