According to The New York Daily News, the 1,300 pound bottle contains nearly 64 gallons of wine, enough to relieve thirst of half of Long Island. Kim Bullock, the creator of wine said, "I've gotten lots of offers for it, and I've turned down one for $100 000."
The Guinness Book of World Records named the bottle of Shiraz the world's largest in 2005. The bottle cost $11,000 to ship on the round trip and was scheduled to return home on Friday evening. It was displayed as part of a marketing effort dubbed "G'Day USA: Australian Week."
Standing over 6 feet tall, the bottle is the equivalent of 387 regular-size bottles of wine and was produced as a joint venture among wineries in Western Australia. The bottle was carried by a dozen muscular men through the doorway of the Cipriani Wall Street ballroom.
