A Ukrainian man, believed to be the world's oldest living person, celebrated his 116th birthday on Thursday with a few friends and family. Hryhoriy Nestor, who is also the world's oldest bachelor, joked that he attributed his long life to the fact that he never married.

According to BBC reports, Nestor worked on a farm until he retired at age 100 and is now living with a relative who looks after him. He surprisingly has healthy hair on his head and recommends a diet of milk, cheese and potatoes with an occasional shot of vodka.

Ukrainian authorities are in the process of proving Nestor's birthday that he claims to be on March 15, 1891. If the birth records prove correct, Nestor's name would be included in the international record books.
