Coroners said Friday that a 17-year-old girl who died after being struck by a bicycle had a pre-existing brain condition that left her more vulnerable to the effects of impact. Eveylyn E. Bolen, a special needs student, was walking on the school track in gym class with friends Wednesday when a 15-year-old boy who was riding the coach's bike accidentally struck her with the bicycle. WBST reported the boy told police he looked behind him because he thought he heard someone call his name, and when he turned forward again, Bolen was right in front of him. He slammed on the brakes, tumbling over the handlebars and onto Bolen.
