The Swedish National Roads Administration is planning to use five elk and about five reindeer from the Skansen wildlife park in Stockholm to detect if animals prefer straight salt or salt mixed with sugar.

Depending upon the disliking of both these animals, the same salt will be used to de-ice the country's roads in wintertime. The step is a necessary measure as it would reduce collisions between cars and wildlife.

According to AP reports, the project is expected to start in about a week and last for around two months. There have been instances of many traffic accidents where wildlife gets in the way of traffic on the Scandinavian country's highways.
