A 20-year-old college student was bitten by a panda in southern China after he broke into the animal's zoo enclosure hoping to hug the bear. The student ignored the warning signs and climbed up a 6 foot 5 inch barrier to get into the pen at the Qixing Park Zoo in Guilin, China, according to the state-run Chinese news agency Xinhua.

A worker at an Oklahoma zoo was seriously injured after a liger, a cross between a lion and a tiger, attacked him Wednesday while feeding the animal. Peter Getz of Safari's Interactive Animal Sanctuary in Broken Arrow was taken to the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa and remains in critical condition for injuries in the neck and chest, according to authorities.

The world's longest aquarium tunnel was opened Sunday in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand in time for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in December. The $17. 4 million aquarium will serve as venue for the ASEAN Summit wherein heads of government in the region will gather to discuss pressing political and economic issues affecting Southeast Asia.

Thousands of used picnic tables are up for sale on eBay by the Forest Preserve District of Cook County for $15 to the general public or $10 to non-profit organizations. All wooden picnic tables are being sold in 'as-is' condition. The tables cost $300 new and are being replaced by cheaper, heavier, harder to vandalize models.

Scientists have confirmed the second-ever case of virgin shark birth indicating that female sharks can reproduce without mating with a male shark. The possibility exists that many female sharks have this incredible capacity. Through DNA testing, a team of scientists has proven that the offspring of a female blacktip shark, named Tidbit, had no genetic material from a father. Tidbit has lived for eight years at the Virginia Aquarium in the Norfolk Canyon Aquarium since shortly after her birth in the wild, according to a statement from Stony Brook University.
