This News Portal is Helping Turks Feel at Home

There are hundreds of thousands of Turkish immigrants living in the United States. Some have been here for generations, and like to remain up to date with what’s going on at home. However, before 2011, many Turks had difficulty in finding a suitable news portal through which they could get information about Turkey. There have been a variety of tumultuous events that have affected Turkey in the past few years, so it obviously affected the Turkish Americans.

However, Deniz Celik realized that something had to be done, and eventually set up Amerikali Turk, a news-based portal that is based in New York City. Deniz Celik has worked quite hard in order to create a space for the Turkish community within the country, and Amerikali Turk is a fantastic news portal that was created for Turkish visitors, giving them access to the latest Turkish news without any biased opinions.

The news portal was set up in 2012 and has garnered considerable recognition in the short span of time that it’s been up. It’s regarded as the number one social media channel for Turks in the US, receiving more than 100,000 unique visitors in a day. The company is capable of reaching almost 80 percent of the Turks living in the United States, with almost 20% of Turks living in Turkey.

As the website has grown, it has also received interest from famous companies. Back in 2018, the company launched an ad in order to celebrate the Republic Day of Turkey. More importantly, it was approached by many famous companies for marketing purposes. Companies like Turkish Airlines, Western Union, Shell Turkey, United Airlines, Haberler, and many others have taken out ads on their website. It has quickly become one of the leading news portals for Turks living in the US, and even the marketing is now geared towards them.

Deniz Celik also launched an initiative through which they raised the flag of Turkey in front of the Municipal Building on the 29th of October, in solidarity with the country. This was back in 2011, but it still held considerable value. The news portal has continued to grow and is only expected to become much more significant as events in Turkey continue to accelerate. Many Turks in the United States now use the website, ranging from students to salaried employees as well as business owners.
