School's Cross-Dress Day Gets Angry Reactions

A local elementary school was bombarded with angry comments for instigating a cross-dress day that gave students the option to dress like the opposite sex. The Pineview Elementary School was criticized by the Voice of Christian Youth America, a radio network that attacked the school for telling its students to either dress as an old person or one of the opposite sex, in observance of the school's Wacky Week.

British Magazine Names Weirdest Book Title Of 2007

British magazine Bookseller recently published poll results that revealed the past year's three strangest book titles, continuing the magazine's annual trend. The award, named the Diagram Prize, for the oddest book title for 2007 was given to one titled "If You Want Closure In Your Relationship, Start With Your Legs. "

Subprime Crisis Leaves Thousands Of Pets Homeless

While there was an unexpected uptick in the February sales of existing homes at 2. 9 percent, home foreclosure filings across the U. S. grew by 60 percent and bank seizures more than doubled for the second month of the year. Aside from Americans struggling with the economy, the subprime crisis also hit a vulnerable sector who could do nothing about losing their roof, except whimper. Homeowners and their pets are being separated by escalating incidents of home foreclosures across America. According to USA Today, thousands of pets are being sent to animal shelters although no exact figures are available due to the lack of accounting standards for recording pets affected by foreclosures.

Pogosticks Bounce Back As Obesity Cure

Could a mid-twentieth century plaything be the cure for a modern epidemic of obesity among the young? Researchers are testing pogosticks as the newest exercise tool. Physical therapy researchers at Dalhousie University are using an updated version of the pogostick with middle school-age students. Already popular in the U. S. researcher Nichelle Hubley is testing a pogo stick workout among 11 10 to 13-year-olds. The kids take part in the six-week study assisted by Flybar, a Calif. -based pogo stick maker.

Scientists Find "Devil Toad" Fossil

Scientists recently discovered fossils that completed the biological structure of a prehistoric giant toad the size of a slightly deflated beach ball. The animal, referred to by scientists as "Beelzebufo," or Devil Toad, measured 40 cm long and weighed 4 kg. This size made the toad to have been much larger than the Goliath Frog of West Africa, known today to be the world's largest toad.
