Finding time for yourself as a mom can feel like a truly impossible task. So, we are here with some really simple tips to help you incorporate more “me” time into your routine. When there is so much going on in life, knowing where to start can be a challenge, but that’s where we come in! These might be really simple things, but they can make such a difference to your happiness, which in turn will benefit your kids massively.

Get Your You Time In The Diary

Our first tip is to get your “me” time in the diary. Once a week or once a month, give yourself a slot of time where you focus on you and only you. You could do this by asking your partner, parents, a baby sitter or friends to watch your children, so you have the time to do what you really want to do but usually wouldn’t have time to. Whilst many people do this, when you have it pre–planned in the diary, you should see your “me” time as important and therefore you are more likely to work hard to get yourself that time.

This might be something as simple as having a nice long bath with your favourite book, you could go to your favourite restaurant on your own for a lovely dinner, perhaps you want to go and play a sport or go for a walk with your friend, or you could treat yourself to a spa evening for a few hours where you can completely unwind.

Treat your “me” time like everything else in your calendar and you will feel so much better for it.

Use Nap Times Wisely

Next up, you should try to use nap times as wisely as possible. Our to-do lists are always ridiculously long, and often we push ourselves to get lots done when our little ones are napping. However, this is the perfect opportunity for you to spend some time doing something that you love. Perhaps at least two or three times a week, you use your child’s nap time to catch up on sleep, doing some online shopping to find dreamy going out dresses for an upcoming event, have a nice long shower and do a skincare routine, watch your favourite film with some snacks or try out a new lunch recipe you’ve been wanting to.

You shouldn’t feel guilty for not playing catch up when your baby sleeps, as you need to find a balance to make sure you are keeping yourself happy and healthy.

Final Thoughts

There is always something to be doing, or someone who needs your attention, and if you don’t pre-plan, having “me” time is often off the cards. So, with these tips, you should be able to incorporate it into your routine more, to make you happier, healthier and a great parent. We love our children, but having time to ourselves is absolutely vital to help us be the best parent possible.
