For motorists, a gas pump is a place they fill gas in their vehicles. But for Mr. P, a lonely peacock it is the love of his life. A service station in South England is an object of the birds romance and desire.
The bird has fallen deeply in love with a row of gas pumps, which make a familiar clicking noise, similar to that of a broody peahen.
The love, affair which is of course destined to end in frustration, Mr. P has devoted three years of his life, vying for the attention of the gas pumps.
Everyday the eight-year old peacock saunters to the busy forecourt, a quarter mile from his roost, where he spends his entire days, showing off his flamboyant plumage in front of the pumps, The Times newspaper said.
Not to be left far behind, Mr. P's two brothers seem to be confused, when it comes to finding a mate. One appears to have a crush on a house cat and the other has been romancing a garden light.
Mr. Horsman, 54, owner of the peacock said that the romancing starts every year at the same time. "In spring he gets his tail feathers and he gets frisky".
