The kind people at the University of Arizona have produced a helpful infographic to show you how common cardiovascular disease really is. The infographic was designed to aid students enrolling on RN to MSN programs, but the information in there should encourage all of us to give our lifestyle an overhaul.

Poor diet, smoking, and a lack of exercise are three of the main risk factors. To improve your heart health, all you need to do is take 30 minutes of exercise, five days a week, eat a healthy diet, and quit smoking. Otherwise, as the infographic warns, you could become one of the 40% of men or 34.4% of women diagnosed with cardiovascular disease between the ages of 40 and 59. If that doesn’t scare you, nothing will.

The Understanding Chronic Conditions: Cardiovascular Disease infographic was produced by the University of Arizona’s College of Nursing.
