Fat is a macronutrient which is found in various food groups. There are three types of fats, saturated fats, unsaturated fats, and trans fats. Saturated fats are found in animals, such as meat, butter and cheese, whereas, unsaturated fats are found in plant foods and fish, such as salmon, avocado and olives, while, trans fats are usually a part and parcel of processed foods we buy from the grocery shop which includes snacks, cookies, cakes, and fried foods.

Fat is a word which comes with a negative connotation and so is asked to cut back on when trying to lose weight. This is the greatest misconception as our body needs fat to make energy and essentially work. Since balance is fairly important and an excess of any nutrient can have adverse effects on our bodies, fat when taken more than your body requires, it results in various medical conditions and health risks. The most common health condition it results in is Obesity which works as a root cause for almost every other health risk. Few of the health risks are as follows:

  • Heart Disease and Stroke

Consuming fat in excess amount results in rapid weight gain which comes with multiple heart diseases and even strokes. Weight gain makes you prone to high blood pressure and high cholesterol, both of which eventually translate into heart diseases.

  • Type 2 Diabetes

Having too much fat results in high blood sugar levels. As much as we love sugar, our body is not its biggest fan. When we consume fat in extravagant amounts, it results in type 2 diabetes which also slows down your metabolism. Research shows how most type 2 diabetic patients are obese or overweight.

  • Cancer

Another health risk of consuming large amounts of fat is cancer. Cancers of various natures, some of which are the colon, breast (after menopause), endometrium (the lining of the uterus), kidney, and esophagus are linked to obesity and rapid weight gain. Not just this, the cancer of ovaries, gallbladder, and pancreas is also a health risk of fat.

  • Gallbladder Disease

The gallbladder is an organ which produces important substances such as bile for our small intestines. Small intestines are imperative for digestion in a human body. Another health risk associated with fat is that of gallbladder disease.

  • Osteoarthritis

Another vile health risk of fat is Osteoarthritis. This is a joint condition which affects the building blocks on one’s body. Osteoarthritis affects knees, hip and even back. Carrying extra pounds put extra pressure on these joints and results in the wearing and tearing of the tissue which cushions these joints.

  • Gout

Gout is a disease unknown to many but is fairly common among overweight and obese individuals. Gout is another joint condition which is a result of an increase in uric acid. Consuming heft amounts of fat translates into the augmentation of uric acid the body which consequently, results in this condition.

  • Sleep Apnea

Sleep Apnea is another medical condition associated with taking in high amounts of fat. This is a breathing condition which makes an individual snore too loudly while sleeping and as uncomfortable as it may sound even stop one from breathing during sleep. This health risk is a mother of other situations like that of strokes and heart diseases.

How to get rid of them?

There are many ways to get rid of fat. There is a method to lose weight without surgery and it’s called coolsculpting. CoolSculpting Richmond, which is a clinic for weight loss, has a great team.

. The health situations mentioned above sound chronic and can even be fatal. The best solution to prevent these problems is to have a balanced diet. As clichéd as “having a balanced diet” sound, it actually is pretty true. It is imperative that you add all food groups in your diet which even includes fat but as mentioned above, the nutrient must be moderation. With that, fats are of all sorts, they can be good and bad. It is important that one is aware of the bad ones and the good ones. Needless to say, junk and fast food is equivalent to having poison especially if it’s in excess but that doesn’t mean you can never have it. Indulging is important but only in balance and moderation.

With a balanced diet, comes exercising. An exertion of at least 30 minutes is vital. Exercising does not have to be intense and I’m in no way suggesting going for a HIIT class right away, few little conscious steps are fine in the long run. For your busy schedule, you can make small changes like taking the stairs instead of the elevator or walking to a nearby café or mall instead of taking the bus or your car. These can be the stepping stones towards a greater good for your health. Not just that, there are multiple other options as well as that of cool sculpting which helps you stay healthy and in shape without sweating too much.

At the end of the day, let’s cherish the life we have been given and take care of ourselves in the best possible way we can.
